Turning lectures into study plans: a student workflow

Founder notes · Manu Parasuraman

Students are the heaviest savers and the lightest users of saved content. A two-hour lecture goes into "watch later" and stays there forever, because "later" never has a calendar slot.

The workflow

1. Capture everything. Share the lecture link into ORANO from YouTube, a course portal, or a class recording. It transcribes and understands the source: topic, structure, difficulty, estimated study time.

2. Triage once a week. Every save arrives with a summary and key points. Skim those first — half of what you saved is reference, not study material. Reference stays searchable; you do not rewatch it.

3. Generate the roadmap. For what is genuinely learnable, ORANO builds a learning roadmap: ordered steps, descriptions, estimated time per step, and resource links. A 2-hour lecture becomes a 4-step plan you can start tonight.

4. Execute one step. Not the whole roadmap. One step. The save-to-action rule applies double during exam season.

5. Ask your library. Before the exam, query what you saved all semester: "explain the parts of the transcript that cover X". Answers are grounded in the lectures you actually chose to keep.

Works the same for Android and iOS.
